About Me
a perfectly ordinary name...
that speaks to a most extraordinary journey...
The Beginning
I was born in 2003, in the main city of Mpumalanga - Mbombela (formerly known as Nelspruit). Some of my earlier formative years were spent there, in the Lowveld - amidst the giant stick insects, African snails and plentiful wildlife. To my young eyes, these sights were more than enough to excite my most wild imaginations and quickened my thirsts for adventure at the young age of three.
Around 2006, me and my incredible family relocated to Bloemfontein, in the Free State. Though our new home stood in stark contrast to my birthland, I still carried something of my love for the strange and the wonderful. This passion gave birth to endless rants about far-away worlds (which my mother eagerly endured), fantastical characters, creatures and too many pocket-sized sketches to count.

A Passion for Making
Throughout the course of Primary School, I cultivated my love for the arts and started exploring short form creative writing, drumming and theater, amongst others.
As I grew in confidence and prowess, so did the scope of my artistic pursuits; throughout the course of high-school, I explored poetry, public speaking, the fine and dramatic arts and music theory. My varied range of creative expression culminated in my decision to pursue a field of study that combines all - if not, most - of these: Animation.

Into the Mountains
After Matriculating with distinction and a roll of accolades behind my name, I returned to the mountains for the first time in 15 years. I spent my first year outside of High School at Timothy Ministry Training, in the picturesque mountains of the Western Cape.
During my gap year, I was forced away from traditional media and became versed in using a digital drawing tablet. After a year of relearning how to draw, I applied for a 3 year Diploma Course at The Animation School and was accepted.

The Animation School
Concepting, Modeling, Unwrapping, Texturing, Surfacing, Lighting and Compositing - all terms that I had never heard before my first year of study - have become second nature. The task of singlehandedly taking digital assets through the entire 3-D Pipeline seemed impossible to a novice, only familiar with traditional media.
Now, however, my work stands not only as a testimony of my potential as an artist, but to my creative growth over the course of the last three years. Each project is my means of cultural expression, drawing strongly from a rich South-African ancestry dating back to 1724.
